By now the world has heard about the absolute devastation caused by the floods in a number of states across Australia, mainly Queensland. Many people have lost loved ones and been displaced as their homes and possessions washed away.
In times like this I instantly think of not only the people, but the animals. People who are unable to evacuate their pets end up leaving them behind, scared, lonely and having to fend for themselves. This absolutely breaks my heart. On top of this, the RSPCA, a great organisation who helps animals in need, lost one of their shelters in the floods and need to rebuild to get back on their feet so they can start caring for animals again.
I always donate to an animal charity every month, it's always budgeted into my outgoing expenses, and at this time I'm unable to donate too much more than I normally do. But I still want to help! So this is what I'm offering!
A friend of mine has set up Craft Relief which is an Australian website where crafters donate their wares, and 100% of sales made is donated to charities directly helping the frontline people & animals affected by the floods.
I make hand stitched, felt brooches custom designed on peoples pets. I have donated as many of my Custom Pet Brooches as people want to buy. They are $15AU each, plus a small postage fee. $15 is then donated to the RSPCA Flood Appeal. I'm sure they will do good work with the donations.
Please, if you can spare a few dollars, buy one of my little feltie critters and help the real animals in need. If you don't have a pet yourself, maybe your friend or family member would like a little gift. All you need to do is pay via paypal, then we will be in touch to ask you to email a photo of your pet. So simple!
The animals thank you!
Love,
